Chapter II William Flegg and Descendants in England 1426-1637

Lineage- William Flegg [mentioned at end of Chapter I] living in county Norfolk in the reign of Henry IV was of the landed family, seated in Norfolk since 1160, of which we treat in the previous chapter. This William's father, whose name has not been ascertained, left issue,
The son, William Flegg, who died in 1426, leaving issue,
I. William, died 1467.
II. Thomas
The son, Thomas Flegg of county Norfolk, died 1471 leaving issue a son, William Flegg of Swafield, county Norfolk, 1521, in the reign of Henry VIII. He had issue, five sons,
1. Willliam of Saint Germans, Wiggenhall, in Norfolk. His will, dated 8 Apr and proved 4 Jul 1552 mentions his brothers Richard, John, James of Shipdham, and Thomas of Swafield, wife Margaret, his son William [undr age] and other children not mentioned by name. His brother Richard was executor. By Margaret, his wife he had issue, three daughters and a son, William, Vicar of Felthorpe in 1578.
2. Richard, of whom presently.
3. Thomas, of Swafield, Gentleman. His will, dated 7 Nov 1558 an proved 23 Jan 1559, mentions hes brothers John and James and his nephew, Thomas, Dionisia, his wife, and William Flegg 'his late father.' He married Dionisia, widow of ---- Hyldwell and daughter of J Both.
4. John of Shipdham county Norfolk. His will proved 16 Mar 1581 mentions his son William and grandchildren John and Henry. 'In the 7th of Henry VIII [1516] John Flegg, Gentleman and Margaret Idel, widow convey Brokenham Ferry to Sir Ralph Verney,' [History of Norfolk]. He left issue, a son
a. William of Shipdham whose will was proved 1629. He married Joan, daughter of ---- Skarlett, and had issue, two sons,
(1.) John of Shpdham who had issue, three daughters and sons,
(a.) William, baptized 1611
(b.) John, baptized 1620
(c.) Robert, baptized 1624
(2.) Henry, baptized 1575, who by Elizabeth his wife had issue five daughters and sons,

5. James of Shipdham who by Agnes his wife had issue seven daughters and a son,
a. Thomas.
