Lieut Gershom Flagg
The eldest son of Thomas Flegg was Gershom Flagg, born in Watertown MA 16 Apr 1641. He settled in Woburn MA and there married 15 Apr 1668 Hannah Leppingwell who was born 6 Jan 1647-48 in Woburn, the daughter of Mitchell Leppingwell. To this union ten children were born, of whom the third child John Flagg is the ancestor of the families included within this Record.
Lieut Gershom Flagg was admitted freeman in Watertown 27 May 1676 and according to North's History of Augusta ME was slain by Indians at Lamprey River NH 6 Jul 1690- presumably while on an expedition against Port Royal Acadia in French territory. His widow married 10 Dec 1696 Ensign Israel Walker, whose first wife had died 9 Mar 1694.
